Seachtain na Gaeilge is always celebrated in our school and this year was no exception. For the past number of months special effort has been made to speak Irish throughout the day both in and out of the classroom so when it came to selecting Cainteoirí na Seachtaine’ this week from every class competition was intense! This past week the children have had ceilí,s in the hall and on Thursday the school turned green – thank you to everyone who made such a wonderful effort to dress the children for our Lá Glas. On Thursday morning well known musician John Spillane entertained us all with a lovely selection of Irish songs. There was such a wonderful atmosphere with the children joining him in singing such songs as Beidh Áonach Amarach and Pegí Litir Mór. It was back to the hall again for assembly at 1pm when the Junior Infants from Room 4 under the guidance of their teacher Mr. Griffey told the story of St. Patrick and also sang lots of Spring Songs. Well done to all for such a great week.
